It was a bad decision to go out to KTV the night before the exam, but somehow I felt that I could still find time to study. Unfortunately, it was 1 A.M. by the time I got home!

It was a bad decision to go out to KTV the night before the exam, but somehow I felt that I could still find time to study. Unfortunately, it was 1 A.M. by the time I got home! In a panic, I picked up my books and started to look things over. But there were hundreds of pages to review and there was no way I could do it all in a few short hours. My only chance was to sneak something into the exam! I made tiny, detailed notes of the whole year's lessons, and then went to sleep. The next morning, I hid the paper in my sleeve and, after entering the examination area, began to write the exam. It was a tough test, and I was tempted to use the "cheat sheet" but something stopped me from doing so. Was it my conscience? I hope it was, although it might just have been my fear of getting caught. In any case, I did the exam the best I could, and though my mark was poor I still passed - and felt proud of myself for making the right decision.

3. surge (n.)
5. twist (v.)
7. buttocks (n.) 屁股
9. sprained (adj.)

2. fake (v.) 造假
4. balance (n.) 平衡
6. smash (v.)
8. limp (v.) 跛行

It was a bad decision to go out to KTV the night before the exam, but somehow I felt that I could still find time to study. Unfortunately, it was 1 A.M. by the time I got home! What could I do? After some thought, I decided that I needed to fake some kind of accident which hurt my arm and hand, so it would be impossible for me to write the test. Of course, I didn't want to hurt myself too badly, so I carefully planned how I would fall over onto the pavement with my arm held straight out in front of me. My plan ready, I started to fall forward - only to feel a sudden surge of fear. I couldn't do it! I quickly pulled my arm back and shot out my leg to regain my balance. But it was too late! I felt a sharp pain in my ankle, twisted around and smashed to the ground on my buttocks. The next morning, I limped to school with a sprained ankle, wrote the test, and failed miserably. It was the worst day of my life!
